As we knew the USA, Canada, The United Kingdom, France or the European Union (EU), Japan, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, China, Vietnam etc. The Drinking water (after treated) or bottled drinking water has no pH limitation of 6-8.5.
However we received few of customers responses that their government has the pH of 6-8.5 limitation on bottled water and felt quite confuse.
For this we would like to indicate the Tap Water Law and Bottled Water Sanitary Standard related in Taiwan and drafted this explanation for the pH issue of bottled water. We hope this can be help for your country.
In general, if the drinking water meet the National Drinking Water Standard which means the water is safe for drinking. Whether the pH is acidic or alkaline has nothing to do with health.
Tap Water Law requested tap water should supply at PH: 6.0 to 8.5 restriction globally. Because government worry the pH of tap water will change to acidic which caused by pipe corrosive problems and getting bad influential on public health. This is why [Tap Water Quality Standards] has the pH limited between pH 6.0 to pH 8.5 worldwide
Please refer to Article 5 Section 25 of the Regulation, shown in Yellow highlighted

Drinking Water Quality Standard, Taiwan also has the pH limitation between 6-8.5.
However the places of Public or private which supply to public drinking water by continuous water equipment or fixed water equipment if the water has treated then it is no pH limitation between 6-8.5.
Please refer to Article 3 Section E of the Regulation, shown in Yellow highlighted.

There is no any pH limitation in above Drinking Water Standard Since the source water should be safe and meet the [Drinking Water Quality Standard] or the source water should approved by government (likely source water of mineral water) . Further the bottled water should be pre-filtered and treated before fill into bottles.
Based above reason, many developed countries likely, the USA, Canada, EU, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, China, Vietnam etc. Has no any pH limitation for bottled drinking water Standard.
Attachment 3 - Sanitation Standard for Bottled and Packaged Drinking Water

From above explanation only quite few of government offices use the pH limitation of 6-8.5 for tap water to Bottled Water is a misunderstood.
Following are some of alkaline ionized water from the USA, Japan, Taiwan, China, and Vietnam which the bottle labels indication the pH between 7.5-9.5 which is real cases for reference
